Aquaculture Site Locations Assessments and Licencing.

Green Ocean Farming now offers a unique aquaculture service to help you find a suitable site for seaweed farming or alternative aquaculture venture, we look at all aspects of aquaculture locations and licencing that you will need to consider before you apply for a licence from the marine management organisation.
We take the strain out of finding and applying for aquaculture sites and the process of applying for a licence.

Once you have given us an idea of an area that you want to farm seaweed in or other alternative aquaculture venture, we will carryout surveys and assessments, checking for protected marine life, conservation zones, seabed suitability, water quality, depth and information about current strength and many other important points that need considering before making a final decision on an aquaculture site.

Aquaculture Licencing Service.
Having completed your site survey you now need to decide whether to proceed and apply for a licence from either the Marine Management Organisation, Natural Resources Wales or Marine Scotland. It is important to note that although the cost of the actual licence is normally shown on the relevant website, you need to take into consideration the additional cost of the hours worked by the licencing authority on your application. These are a chargeable fee, charge at around £120 per hour.

The licence application will be reviewed and open to consultation from any number of stakeholders, from Cefas, Natural England, the Environment Agency, the Crown Estate, Historic England or equivalent, IFCA, Trinity House, Maritime agencies, the Shellfish association, RYA, Local harbour authorities to mention but a few. Any comments or consultation from Cefas will also be charged to you.

With this in mind it is important to ensure your application cover all the necessary points before it is submitted.

In the first instance please tell us where and what you would like to farm, when you are looking to start and the size of the project.
